Learning Description:

In the 21st century Africa, there is need to study the relationship between education and the society for better understanding of the functionality of the sub-systems in the society. Tis course aims at exposing the student teachers to contemporary educational issues for proper performance in the classroom. As a result of this, students will be taught on how Sociology aims at drawing the attention of the student teacher to the cross cultural analysis of social issues for better understanding of their immediate environment and its surburb.

Learning Outcomes/Objectives:

At the end of the course and having completed the essential reading and activities students should be able to:
 Define Education and Sociology.
 Explain the meaning of education and society.
 Establish the relationship between education and society.
 Discuss the functions of Society.
