Course description:

This course is designed to prepare the nursing students to identify the causes, pathogenetic mechanisms, clinical features, diagnoses and different methods of management of diseases of the respiratory (pulmonology), cardiovascular (cardiology), digestive (gastroenterology) and haematological (haematology) systems.

Learning Objectives: 

 Apply knowledge derived from the bio/psycho/social models and nursing to achieve deliberate and competent decision-making that is grounded in evidence-based practice to achieve best nursing practice outcomes for patients with multisystem disorders.

 Perform nursing skills safely and effectively. Administer nursing care based on the patient’s present bio-psycho-social-cultural-spiritual situation. Determine the patient’s priority of needs and plan nursing care accordingly.

 Collaborate with patients, families and health care personnel to achieve positive patient outcomes.

 Utilise therapeutic communication skills, guidance and support in interacting with the adult patients, their families and to record observations in a proper sequence and format.

 Utilise information literacy skills to integrate research findings that guide (or lead to) best nursing practice decisions.
