Mission for Department of Engineering, ICT and Environmental Design
The Department of Engineering, ICT and Environmental Design intends to achieve the following mission:
- To produce quality graduates in the field of Engineering and Environmental Design who are professional in both theoretical and practical knowledge that meet international manpower requirement.
- Develop a department of repute for training of graduate and postgraduate students that are employable, enterprising and self-reliant.
- Ensure that staff and students are ICT compliant and programme to be ICT driven.
- To produce graduates who are innovative and versatile in issues concerning technology and built environment.
- To equip such graduates to handle the management, procurement, monitoring and control of all resources related to the built environment.
- To develop in the graduates with relevant information technology skills, in order to enable them proffer intelligent solutions, advice and suggest alternative economic options, including the legal, political and social costs of such alternatives
- To positively contribute to high quality research in all aspects of the technology of the built environment.
Mission for Department of Crop Production:
The Department of Crop Production intends to achieve the following mission:
- To adequately train students in the fields of crop production and horticulture.
- To provide green/screen houses for research in special areas.
- To encourage students to participate in the design and planting of landscapes.
- Vigorous involvement in internally and externally funded research work
- Vigorous consultancy drive.
- To act as agent and catalyst through post-graduate training research and innovation for the effective and economic utilization, exploitation and conservation of the country’s national economic and human resources.
- To offer to the general public, as a forum of public service, the result of training and research and to foster the practical application of these results.
- To identify technological problems and needs of their society and to find solutions to them within the context of overall national development.
Minimum Entry Requirement
The two Departments and the programmes have similar entry requirement that is in line with the University entry requirements.
Department Agriculture and Animal Health
Grade 12 Candidate
The “O” level requirement for entry into Crop Production Department and Animal Science is as follows:
- Five “O” Level Credit (A1-C6) in English Language, Mathematics and relevant subjects such as Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry and any of Geography/Physics/Economics.
Direct Entry
Entry requirement by Direct Entry is two (2) Diploma /HTC with a minimum of Credit pass are admitted into 200 level. Those with Advance Diploma Crop Production could be directed into 300 level.
Duration of the Programme
The Bachelor of Science in Crop Production and Animal Science is designed to last for a minimum of four years (8 semesters) and maximum of six years (12 semesters) for a Grade 12 candidate; a minimum of three years (6 semesters) for a DE (200 level) candidate and a maximum of four and half (9 semesters); and a minimum of two years (4 semesters) for a Advance Diploma candidate and maximum of three and (6 semesters).
Department Engineering, ICT AND Environmental Design
Grade 12 Candidate
The “O” level requirement for entry into Crop Production Department and Animal Science is as follows:
- Five “O” Level Credit (A1-C6) in English Language, Mathematics and relevant subjects such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology and any of Geography/Technical Drawing/ Electrical Studies/Core Science/Economics etc. As the case maybe.
